Christina Vasak - RCC, MEd, BEd
Christina is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors. She is also a BC certified teacher, and obtained her Masters of Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia. Her professional background prior to teaching and counselling was rooted in managerial roles in private and non-profit organizations where she thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of streamlining systems and processes, and creating and mentoring cohesive teams.
As a counsellor and during her time teaching, she has worked with children, youth, and adults from various cultural and religious backgrounds, as well as with individuals with special needs, parents, and families who have experienced domestic violence. In her current practice, Christina’s focus is working with adults, supporting them with life transitions, personal growth and self-development, leadership, career, boundary-setting, creativity blocks, anxiety, and stress management. Her practice is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and grounded in Person-Centered Humanistic and Existential Therapy, where she works with a belief that the client is the expert in their own life. She draws from a variety of approaches to help clients achieve their goals including Mindfulness, Compassion Focused Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.
Outside of work, Christina enjoys finding creative outlets, doing yoga, spending time in the outdoors, and playing with her children.
